St. Paul’s Residence
Cambridge Housing Authority
The Narrow Gate undertook an extensive facility evaluation for the Cambridge Housing Authority and developed a plan for renovating the historic exterior of the St. Paul’s Residence, while increasing the building capacity to 22 lodging units and 2 family apartments, selectively replacing primary building systems, and installing a new elevator. The building will also house common living rooms, common kitchens, and support office space for onsite staff. Working closely with historic consultants, The Narrow Gate successfully achieved approvals from the Cambridge Historic Commission and the National Park Service for federal and state historic tax credits and all local approvals. The project was bid out through the MGL CH 149 competitive bidding public procurement process. The completed project will allow St. Paul’s to continue serving long into the future as a valuable, dignified home for some of Cambridge’s most disadvantaged residents.
